The brief
Open a room the city believes in before the first night.
ONYX had a location, a build and an opening date. What it did not have was a reason for anyone to care. Prague does not wait for another club; it decides in one glance whether a place is worth a Friday. So the real assignment was never a logo. It was making an unopened basement feel inevitable.
My role
- Creative directionOne idea guarded across every surface: light against black.
- Brand identityThe mark, the wordmark, the color, the rules they obey.
- Motion designThe identity in movement, from the screens above the bar to the feed.
- Visual systemsPosters, menus, screens and the space itself speaking one language.
The venue, its architecture and its nights belong to other people. Everything the brand touches is mine.
Building the identity
A mark built from the dark it lives in.
Onyx is a black stone. The club is a black room. The identity starts by refusing to fight either: the O opens like a lens into the dark, the wordmark keeps that counter-shape, and everything else is subtraction. One electric tone. No ornament. Nothing that needs daylight to work.
Visual language
One system. Every surface.
A season flyer, a campaign night, a month of programming, a tee. When an event brings its own color, the mark steps back and holds the frame. The rest of the time the room speaks in one electric tone.
Motion and atmosphere
The identity was designed moving before it was designed still. Brand motion runs on the venue's own screens, the mark breathes between sets, and the launch film above walks the finished room the way a guest does.

Reflection
I came to design a mark. I stayed to design how a room feels before the first track plays.
That is what digital presence means here too. A brand is the room people enter before they enter the room. Nothing works alone; at ONYX you can stand inside that sentence.
